Wydmoor Hose Co. Car Wash

The public is invited to have their cars washed by members of the Wyndmoor Hose Company, which will have a car wash on Saturday, May 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Springfield Township’s overflow lot in front of the ambulance parking lot,Hawthorne Lane and Paper Mill Rd., Wyndmoor.

All proceeds will support the Springfield Township Historical Society’s efforts to bring two 9-1/2 foot tall urns that were once at Whitemarsh Hall, a former Springfield Township estate, home to Springfield Township.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is deaccessioning the urns as part of its renovation and expansion of its West Entrance. The urns were donated to the Museum by Eva Stotesbury in 1938 in memory of her husband, Edward, owner of Whitemarsh Hall. Plans are being made to place the urns near the entrance of the Township’s new Library.

Wyndmoor Hose Company is a 100% volunteer department located at 1043 E. Willow Grove Ave., Wyndmoor. Outside of emergency responses such as fire suppression and rescue activities, it is active in the community in many ways, such as offering fire prevention programs and demonstrations to local schools, camps, day-care facilities, and other businesses and organizations.

There will be no pre-registration. Cost is $10 For more information, call the historical society at 215-233-4600 or the hose company at 215-233-2808
